Bookworms Anonymous!

By suggestion of fellow Chic Chat author Bridgett and also a reader via our chat box, I would like to share some of my favorite books.

An asterisk (*) indicates a good summer read/beach book/light reading! (At least in my opinion!) ;)

In no particular order, here are some of my favorites.

I read a broad variety of books (and have listed a good variety as well), and many of these I read with a women's book club that I belong to, so it's not just me that enjoyed them! :)

1. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith

2. The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
(Crazy! While googling this book, I just found out that it is also set to come out in theaters this year! Just wanted to share this info, as I have heard a few others that read this blog like this book!)

3. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho (See my personal review HERE.)

4. Summer Sisters by Judy Blume*

5. The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory*

6. White Oleander by Janet Fitch

7. I Know This Much is True by Wally Lamb

8. The Red Tent by Anita Diamant

9. Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden*

10. The Time Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger (I will have a review of this book posted on my personal blog shortly, and will update this link!)

11. Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood by Rebecca Wells*

12. The Kitchen God's Wife by Amy Tan (I love all of her books!)

13. The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks* (Really any of his books make great summer reading, IMO)

14. Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See (See my personal review HERE.)

15. Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding *

I also love the Harry Potter series by J.K Rowling as well as the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer!

I know there are plenty more that I love, but I think this is enough for now!

Okay, those are my suggestions, what are some of yours?! This is the part I'm really looking forward to!!!

Summer Activities

So Memorial weekend has kicked off the Summer 09 season! I just wanted to share some of my personal  favorite summer activities (pretty much things you can only do in the summer).

BOATING

This isn't our actual picture but this is our same exact model and color boat. I LOVE IT! Instant vacay for me. Kick back relax no shoes, no shirt, NO PROBLEM! Pop a corona, listen to the mp3, and you're good.

SECOND UP

MOTORCYCLE

I love holding onto my man tight and smelling the fresh cut Summer grass and the cool breeze. Instant relaxation for me! We are safe as well. Also, YOU heard it first on here...I plan on going to the motorcycle school to learn how to drive!! I can only with him he said lol but it will be fun! I will get a girl bike, something like this maybe

I LOVE IT AND WANT IT!

So what are your favorite Summer hobbies/enjoyment/thrills?

Is It Just Me....

Photobucket

Or does Angelina totally look like a wax figure in this picture? When I first saw this, I thought for sure it was a mannequin.

I also have to mention...Angelina and I are the same age, or very close at least, but she totally has grandma hands! All knobby and full of big veins. Gross.

Despite it all...the woman has an incredible figure. Especially considering she had twins not long ago. Wowza.

Enough Already!

I have a secret.
I am a closet celebrity gossip lover.

Yet as much as I love hearing about some celebrities... there are some I wish I would never have to see or hear about again!

Here are three "celebrities" that I wish the media would stop giving attention to...

Nadya Suleman (Aka, "Octomom"):

I think this one just speaks for itself! To be honest, I really didn't even want to post her on here because I don't think she deserves a second more of America's attention. I feel so sorry for her poor children.

Jessica Simpson:

Jessica, I didn't like your pop "music", I didn't like your stupid Newlyweds show with has-been Nick Lachey... and I don't like you now that you do... well, what exactly do you do now? Besides make horrible country albums, terrible straight-to-dvd movies, forget your song lyrics while performing, and run off stage crying? Oh, and wear two leopard print belts at once. Totally stylin'.

Sorry Jessica, but I think your time has clearly passed. Enough already!

And finally...

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt of "The Hills" fame:

(Sigh)... Yes... I do on occasion watch The Hills. Even though it is clearly scripted (although it claims to be reality), and even though over half the show is shots of the city and less than half is actual dialogue between characters. I know it's stupid... but it's just one of those shows that if I have fifteen minutes (like when I'm doing makeup), I'll turn it on in the background.

I can't stand these two on the show, and I think if I hear one more thing about their stupid wedding or see another posed photo shoot, I might just barf all over my keyboard. Spencer is gross, fake and cheesy. And Heidi... well, I have absolutely nothing against plastic surgery... in fact, if I had the money, I would have already been there, done that. But Heidi looks so entirely fake, and it's just sad and unattractive to me.

So those are just a few of the "celebrities" that I wish I never had to hear about again. How about you guys? Who are you sick of hearing about?

Jon&Kate plus DATES

I'm sick of Jon and Kate because they are another human case of using their children to get rich then neglect them. Their children are going to have major issues since this. However, its all over the media so figured I'd add it here. What do you think?

Reports say she is estranged from her family (book tour of all 50 states!) and screwing the bodyguard. He in fact is home with the kids and after finding out started the relationship with the teacher.

All I can say is "Money,Money,Money, Money,Monnnnnnnnneyyyyy" Does this to very selfish, trashy people!!

P.s. Lose the gross mismatching outfit Kate ew!!

Finger-lickin' good...

This article was originally posted at The Luxury Spot on May 6, 2009 by Lana. It was so funny, I thought I'd share. :)

May is National Masturbation Month - woohoo! As a staunch, ahem, alone time lover, I’m pretty excited to spend this month celebrating. Already, people across the country have got to rubbin’ it out, but perhaps the most over-the-top shindig in honor of this month would be the Masturbate-A-Thon in San Francisco, which just might be the most fabulous charity event ever created. Invented in 1998 by Good Vibrations to raise money for “good causes,” the Masturbate-A-Thon has since raised over $25,000 and has had roughly 1700 pledged participants. Personally, I’m quite shocked that only 1700 people have taken advantage of this legal (and charitable!) opportunity to engage in some narcissistic exhibitionism. I mean, come ON - with the contest line-up including “Longest Squirt Distance,” “Longest Time Spent Masturbating,” “Most Orgasms,” and “Tag Team Fun” (very intriguing…), how can anyone resist? Itching to wank off in the name of fundraising? You’ll sadly have to wait until next May - this year’s took place last weekend!

(I'm just going to continue posting pictures of masturbation throughout this post)

In other news, while perusing the web for all things related to masturbation, I stumbled across AskMen.com’s “Tiptoe Through the Two Lips” (note to author: that headline’s sort of moronic), which addresses reasons why women masturbate and how they do it.
I’m sure men across all seven continents are shocked to find that:

Women masturbate when they are lonely, horny, not satisfied, or too insecure to have sex. And bored (my addition). Are these not the same reasons a man would “beat the meat”? We all have needs…

Women often give themselves the best orgasms they’ve ever had. There’s no denying that sometimes the current running through this hand is best used to shock myself like an electric eel.

Women use vibrators, fingers, dildos, showerheads, and household appliances et al to get off. Um… “household appliances et al?” WTF? Listed possibilities are hair brushes (the end without bristles, I’m assuming), Coke bottles, and “phallic-shaped vegetables.” HAHA! BRB, I have to go to the grocery to buy myself an extra large cucumber/dildo thing!
Even monkeys masturbate.

Speaking of cucumbers, to conclude my first post of National Masturbation Month (because there will be more, I promise you this) I present to you a list of the Most Ridiculous Nicknames for Masturbation:

- Jilling Off (Get it? Jack and Jill…)
- Ya-Yaing the Sisterhood
- Fish Finger Shuffle (I’ll never look at fish sticks the same way again.)
- Playing the Clitar
- DJ Diddling (Because “it does sort of look like we’re scratching a record.”)
- Caressing the Cucumber (OMG, love cucumbers. Just bought one.)
- Bashing the Bishop (Whoever actually uses this one is going to hell, I think.)
- Bludgeoning the Beefsteak (This sounds awfully painful.)
- A Date with Pamela Handerson (Hardy har Handerson!)
- Answering the Bone Phone
- Shaking Hot White Coconuts from the Veiny Love Tree (…)

Until next time!
**********************************************
Okay, now that we've all had some chuckles, I have to ask...who could actually be in a masturbate-a-thon? I mean...REALLY! I can't imagine getting my kicks in front of thousands of adoring fans.

Another point I feel I must bring up. What is up with those girls who can squirt cum like a man? Can any of you do this? I have to say, it freaks me out a bit when I see this phenomenom. ;)

Bernie...can't wait to see the video you made for Masturbation Month!

Ladies Night

It's a little late...but better late than never.

Next week, and from there on out, Chris is going to play 'Sir Mix A Lot' and do the Ladies Night vlogs. This week you'll have to suffer through me mixing the drink ;)

I have a little bit of bartending experience, but not much...and certainly nowhere near Chris' abilities. But I have plenty of experience drinking cocktails, and I have to tell you that this one is good.

Bernitini...
1 1/2 oz. Lime flavored Vodka
1/2 oz. Limoncello
1 1/2 oz. Orange Juice
2 oz. Cranberry Juice
...combine ingredients and shake with ice, pour into a martini glass

Enjoy your drink ladies!

Swimsuit Anxiety

Most of us women have swim suit anxiety, am I right? Not only moms but us without children as well. I found a site called "Lands Ends" , they do pretty good having customized suits for individual needs. They have searches such as  "anxiety zones" , bust size, body shape and control. Instead of sexy, flirty, tropical such searches. They were more realistic. You can mix and match a huge number of suits.

I did not order anything (on a shop break this week lol) However, I wanted to pass along the info for those that maybe interested. I just feel like they "get" the real woman and know that we like to fit well in our suit.

You can even get a virtual model to your custom size and try stuff on her!! That was fun.
